European Style Tower Hunts.

Want to try something new, try out our new european style tower hunts with your buddies. We need a minimum of six or a maximum of twelve hunters to run our tower hunts. Hunters must take at least 10 pheasants each for the shoot.  Any birds missed off the tower are considered scratch birds and may be hunted with your own dogs, after the tower hunt is complete. Dogs will be supplied, at no additional cost, for the actual tower portion of your hunt. Cost per gun is $150 for ten pheasants which is 5 hens and 5 roosters. All tower hunts must be booked in advance. If you do not have enough hunters to meet the minumum, contact us so we can possibly group you with another hunting party.

March 13th, 2010

On March 13th we are "raising bucks for the ducks." Take this opportunity to get one last hunt in before spring arrives. We are offering a five pheasant tower hunt for $100.00 of which a portion will go back to support DU projects. The hunt includes four hens and one rooster, drawing for a 12 guage shotgun, the famous mystery box, a light breakfast for the morning hunters, lunch for all hunters, and an opportunity to get into a free 10 pheasant drawing with the rest of the Cedar Hill hunters this year. The winner can redeemed the hunt in the 2010-11 season. Dogs will be supplied for the tower portion of the hunt. You may hunt scratch birds with your own dog after the tower hunt is complete. Shoot a pheasant with a leg band and receive an additional prize. Trap shooting for an additional $5.00 for 25 birds will also be available. Please indicate prior to the 13th if your interested in trap shooting. To sign up, please contact Mike Ptaschinski at (920) 960-7758. Please refer below to see how our tower hunts work. Come out and support the ducks and have a great time doing it!

How it works......

We have a forty foot tower that we take the birds up to the top of for their release. This tower has six shooting stations located around it that are 75 to 100 yards from the tower. We generally throw around ten birds off the tower, then have the guys rotate clockwise to the next station. We do this to make sure we spread the fun out evenly for all the participants. There always seems to be a blind or two that are the hot blinds, this keeps it a little more even. After the hunt is done, the birds missed off the tower are considered scratch birds and can be hunted again. You have the potential to hunt the same bird twice. How's that for value in a bad economy? You'll also find that this is cheaper per bird because of the increase in the number of birds we use for the hunt. This hunt is suppose to mimic a European Style hunt, I think it feels alot like duck hunting. This type of hunt is also great for corporate events, Christmas parties, taking young kids out to work on their shooting skills, or the older folks that are getting to the end of their hunting careers and can't pound the brush like they used to.  Whatever the reason, you can't beat the value and the fun you'll have doing this hunt.

I would like to give a big thank you to Andy Kelm of Kelm Painting. This guy is incredible with a crane. I have worked with him many times in the past, and have always been impressed with his abilities. If I would have asked him to set the tower on a pinhead, he would have done it for me. Thanks Andy!!!!
I would also like to give a big thank you to Paul and Travis Mayer of Precision Stripping for fabricating the new tower for our european style hunts. They did a fantastic job on the tower and it was done on time and on budget. What more can you ask for!!!!!
